Hello,
We wanted to let you know about important changes coming to our pricing model.
As of November 1, 2024 we will be updating our current pricing tiers with a new, simplified tiering system.
We believe the new pricing model will be easier to understand and more accessible for smaller studios or indie developers.
We really want to make sure we are reducing any difficulties that developers might have when it comes to making multiplayer games - from a financial perspective as well as a technological one.
We know that changes like this can often bring about many questions. We have tried to answer most of the basic questions in our FAQ below, but we know there might be other cases or concerns we haven’t thought about, yet.
We invite you to post your questions or concerns below, so we can follow up.
Thank you,
The coherence team
FAQ
What is happening to the coherence pricing model?
On November 1, 2024, the current pricing model will be updated to a new pricing model, and the old model will cease to be used.
Does coherence still offer a free version?
Yes, the core coherence technology is still free to start for game developers.
We still believe that developers should be able to try out new technology to see if it fits their needs without making technological or financial commitments.
What are the new pricing tiers?
The changes to the pricing model mostly affect the monthly subscription prices for paid tiers. coherence will continue to offer a free-to-start version as well as custom-built packages to studios that require co-development, a unique implementation, or have other specific needs for our support.
Why is coherence making this change?
At our core, we believe that it is important for game developers to be able to realize their ambitions of making multiplayer games - even indie developers and smaller studios.
When we thought about our pricing we realized it still seemed confusing in certain ways, and we also decided to make a price structure that would be even more accessible for the smallest teams.
Do current users need to take any action?
Users who have signed up for a coherence account and who will not be affected by the changes will not need to take any action for their account or their projects.
Do current paying subscribers need to take action?
Customers currently enrolled in the current paid tiering system who are affected by these changes will be contacted directly by the coherence team to discuss the changes.
